To Run or Not To Run…

Days left until the big day: 148
State of mind: Lets just say...if you can read this, you are in range!

To Run or Not To Run…now that is the question…well mine at least for the last couple of days. Had a pretty shitty week and as a result my mood resembles the November weather here in the UK to a perfect match – dark, gloomy and wet.

Nothing really serious as such, and I reckon the state of my mood is a direct result of how the relationship with my dentist has developed since Wednesday.

I thought we had a deal…”Fix me up – pain free and quick!” was my understanding with him. He must have misunderstood somehow, as it quickly degenerated into a “Aaarrghhh, that hurt you Bl**dy B#%$^£&%...!” Admittedly, he apologised profusely when he messed up and promised to make it up when I go back AGAIN next week.

So how did that affect my running, you probably wonder? Well, it was not the pain that did not get me out there, more the fact that I my ability (or actually inability!) to eat was affected. For the last four days I have been on fluids more or less and that didn’t do my mood any good either as my flatmate or VRB1 (Virtual Running Buddy 1) will gladly testify. So with that in mind, I didn’t really dare to go out running for hours on end since Wednesday, as it would not do my body any good with so little nutrition inside – again if it wasn’t for the protein shakes I would not have been able to get any in…

Happy to write though that I did manage to go 3 times prior to Wednesday and again today – so covered about 20 miles overall in the last 7 days.

This morning when I left the house, I just did not feel like running at all. And that is an understatement as I had delayed my run with all the normal delaying tactics I could think of and on top of that, it is needless to say that yes it did start raining about 10 minutes in, nevertheless when I got back 47 minutes later – I felt fantastic, so I am very glad I went!

Feel a bit better now ;-) and will go again tomorrow…

Take care
